Sex hormone progesterone may save lives after brain injury (The Guardian, 19 February 2010)

A large-scale trial on the possible benefial effects of progesterone on serious brain injuries is due to start in the US, following promising results from several smaller trials. Results from the 'proTECT III' trial could dramatically improve survival outcomes in emergency brain surgery.
