In order to examine and develop the role that academic research can play in the risk management industry, Lloyd's have this year opened a competition for academics entitled 'The Science of Risk'.

Young researchers, PhD students and Postdocs are welcome to submit recently published papers that for example develop new ways of measuring risk, identify new risks, reduce the impact of existing risks etc., which will be assessed under five categories (endocrinologists may be most interested in the biology category).

A £2000 prize is available for the winner of each category, with an additional £3000 awarded to the best paper overall. The deadline for submissions to the prize is 15 October 2010. To view the eligibility and judging criteria, and find out more about the prize, please follow the link below.
